I believe that as a teacher it is my responsibility to …
- get to know my students for the individuals that they are, and use my knowledge of them to tailor my teaching in a way that supports each individual’s strengths and needs.
- use a variety of teaching techniques that make the classroom environment stimulating and interactive.
- create a classroom culture where students recognize that mistakes and misunderstandings, when identified, are merely steps to discovery.
- allow my students to discover and make sense of the world around them by encouraging their natural sense of curiosity.
- provide students with opportunities to apply knowledge to real life context; content that ignores context is like building sand castles, there is no longevity.
- encourage and provide ample opportunities for my students to discuss their ideas and discoveries.
- accept my role as a lifelong student, continuously seek knowledge, and never accept stagnancy from myself or my students.
